President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan has arrived in Baku today to attend the 7th summit of the Turkic council to be held on October 14-15, Anadolu agency reports with reference to the public relations office of the President of Turkey.
The summit is timed to the 10th anniversary of signing the Nakhchivan agreement (October3, 2009) on creation of the Council of cooperation of Turkic speaking states (Turkic council). The agreement was signed by leaders of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
An official decision on Uzbekistan’s entry into the organization, as well as signing of a number of documents, in particular regarding an operation of the European office of the Turkic council in Budapest, is expected to be made in Azerbaijan’s capital.
In the course of the summit the first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev will be given a rank of an honorary chairman of the Turkic council.
Erdogan will hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of the Turkic council member states.
The visit of the President of Turkey will end on October 15.
