2.6 billion tons of oil produced in Azerbaijan

“2 billion 58 tonnes of oil have been produced in Azerbaijan throughout history of oil production”, Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov has said at the today’s session of the National Oil Committee of Azerbaijan.

Of the total volume, 746, 000 tonnes of oil were produced in the period since independence of Azerbaijan. Nowadays, daily oil production in the country totals 770,000 barrels of oil, the Minister added.

According to Parviz Shahbazov, at present, the country not only ensures its energy security by producing and supplying oil-gas to the world markets, but also plays an important role in regulation of world oil prices for energy resources.

The Minister said that Baku has made a request for hosting the 24th World Petroleum Congress which will be held by the World Petroleum Council in 2023. A host country of the WPC will be chosen by secret voting which is going to be held at the next session of this organization in Saint Petersburg in June 2019.
