EIA: US shale oil production to hit record high in May

Shale oil production at 7 large fields of the USA is expected to increase by 80,000 barrels per and hit record high of 8.46 million barrels per day in May, according to the US Energy Information Agency, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to www.oilexp.ru.

The highest yield will be observed at the Permian Basin located in Texas and New Mexico states. In May, oil production volumes there will increase by 42,000 barrels per day, hitting record high of 4.14 million barrels per day.

Production at Bakken, state of North Dakota, will increase by 11, 000 barrels per day, up to 1.39 million barrels per day. Production record in this region was fixed in January in the volume of 1.41 million barrels per day.

Production at Eagle Ford will rise by 7,000 barrels per day, up to 1.43 million barrels per day. This has been the highest indicator since January 2016.

Production growth rates at the Permian Basin and other key fields slowed down because of the oil price decline in the 4th quarter of the last year. Besides, investors wish companies to increase revenues rather that production.
