Georgia launches electric car manufacturing

Manufacturing of electric cars will be launched in Georgia, Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze said at the presentation of the first Industrial Business Group focused on eco-friendly production, which was held at Abanotubani. The holding, comprising such companies as Aienergy, Aicar, Aipower and Aiproduction, is starting to operate at the Georgian market, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to the press office of the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, Changan Corporation being the largest electric car manufacturer in the world made a decision to construct its production factory in Georgia.

"From 2020 we will be able to supply the market with electric cars. We have selected Kutaisi as a city, which has great industrial experience, to build a plant there. Production capacity of the plant will be 40 000 cars a year, out of which 50% will be designated for the domestic market, while 20 000 cars will be exported to the European Union (EU)”, Mamuka Bakhtadze said.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, cars of four mark will be manufactured at the plant and will bear the sign Made in Georgia.
