Bulgaria planning to join SGC

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov will arrive on a working visit in Baku today.

As diplomatic sources told Caspian Energy News, today Bulgaria’s Prime Minister will meet with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev. He is expected to attend an official ceremony of opening the Baku-Sofia (Buta Airways) air flight on the next day.

Minister of Transport Ivaylo Moskovski and Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova will be within the Bulgarian delegation.

As Boyko Borissov noted in his previous speeches, “Bulgaria plans to increase oil and gas supplies, as well as extend the potential of gas storages. About 80% of gas compressor stations in the Balkans are located in Bulgaria. It is also an important transit country which transships about 16.7 bcm of gas to Turkey on an annual basis.

“We will also work actively over the projects of interconnectors along the Nabucco route which had been suspended earlier due to the lack of financial support of the EU”, Prime Minister noted. Bulgaria is also interested in joining the TANAP and TAP projects.

The construction of interconnectors towards to the South-East Europe and Austria has been included into the list of Projects of the Common Interest of the European Commission.
