Maros Sefcovic addresses to participants of Caspian Energy Forum Baku

“Transit of energy resources is of great importance to us. Gas is of particular significance in this respect.

It is why Azerbaijan and the entire Caspian region are important partners of the European Union. Azerbaijan is a major supplier of the Southern Gas Corridor. Energy balance of Europe will be diversified with the implementation of this project. Through joint efforts we will manage to have Azerbaijani natural gas delivered to Europe in 2020”, Vice President of the European Commission for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic said in the course of the 7th Caspian Energy Forum Baku, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to azertag.az.

The Southern Gas Corridor provides for the transportation of 16bcm of Azerbaijani gas from the Caspian region to Europe via Georgia and Turkey. Turkey and Europe will receive 6bcm and 10 bcm on an annual basis respectively.
