Turkey, Iran to increase bilateral trade volume

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey and President Hassan Rouhani of Iran, who is in Turkey for an official visit, attended the Turkey-Iran Business Forum held at Çankaya Palace in Ankara, Caspian Energy News ( reports with reference to AK Parti (Justice and Development Party of Turkey).

Delivering a speech at the Forum, President Erdoğan said Turkey is in cooperation with Iran in a wide range of areas, and that their aim is to elevate the bilateral economic relations to the same level as the political relations. Stating that within this framework, they desire to increase the bilateral trade volume to some 30 billion dollars, President Erdoğan underlined that the $22-billion trade volume reached in 2012 shows that $30-billion goal is achievable.

Speaking on Thursday in a meeting with business executives of Iran and Turkey, President Hassan Rouhani added, “We are able to turn sanctions into an opportunity for interweaving the economies of Iran and Turkey with proper management”, the press office of the President of Iran said.

 “We should go towards free trade from preferential trade,” he continued, saying, “We are ready to support and provide the necessary conditions for the presence of Turkish investors in the Iranian energy market”, President Hassan Rouhani said.
