Germany expanding activity in the region

Germany is expanding the economic activity in the Caspian-Black Sea region, as evidenced by the results of the last visit of President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Germany, as well as the visit of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to Azerbaijan in late August of this year. Despite the fact that the issue of energy security was not discussed in detail during the visits, the shortage of supply in the EU gas market in the last few months, the rise in gas prices, as well as the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project by Azerbaijan and Turkey became a main background of the bilateral negotiations between the leaders of the three countries.

Mentioning the recent U.S. and Germany visits at AK Party’s Parliamentary Group Meeting, President of the Republic of Turkey and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan noted that during a meeting with American investors, he called on the business world to invest in Turkey, and that during his visit to Germany he had productive talks with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Angela Merkel.

“Inshallah, our relations with Germany will progress in a more positive direction”, President Erdoğan said, Caspian Energy News ( reports with reference to the official website of the President of the Republic of Turkey.

On his visit to Germany, President Erdoğan made the following remarks: “We want to revive and advance our relations with the European Union as well as with the U.S. We told our counterparts in both countries that Turkey’s relations with other countries and international organizations are not alternatives but complements to its relations with Europe and the U.S. We are determined to proceed our way in the same manner from now on, as well. We see the signs that this approach of our country has gradually started to be accepted by our counterparts”.

During her visit to Baku, the German Chancellor said that Azerbaijan is an important country for the EU in terms of diversification of energy supply and the largest trade partner of Germany in the region, and suggested expanding the economic ties.
